Ugliest Skate shoe of all time?
/ 980 days agoI would say so! I remember when these bad boys were released. I was in 7th grade and it seemed that everyone had to have these. I think I even remember wanting these abominations. Ah the ignorance of youth. This shoe was designed by skater Dave Mayhew. You would think that a skater would have designed a shoe that would be easy to skate in. It’s Hard to picture anyone doing any kind of flip trick in these marshmallows. The shoes elvolcan213 is selling are the D3 2001’s the second edition of D3’s. Osiris then smartened up and made a less bulky and smaller version called the D3 NTX.
I think i will stick to Vans Classics for skating.

Probably the worst skate shoe ever. Ugly and NOT functional. You couldn’t do flip tricks in them because of that slick shit on the sides. Like platic-ish material? It even made ollies hard.
Vans classics for skating? Doesn’t that hurt your heels a lot on drops or anything? For cruising+pools I can see them being great but what about for landing hard on cement?
Yeah, vans just seem to do it for me. I have skated oldschools since i was young and i just grew into them. I do get heel bruises often but i just think you can feel your board soo much better with some Vans on your feet.
That’s true. I like skating in simple shoes for that reason but it still hurts a lot to skate in like authentics. I have pretty bad feet too though from getting hurt and stuff so that could have a lot to do with it. Old Skool’s work great for me as far as Vans go. The sole is a little bigger and seem to make for cushier landings.
i remember these from middle school. im having horrible flashbacks now
definitely guilty of owning a pair of these when they came out. In a time of puffy shoes these things where the biggest.
Heard a story about these from the Osiris rep, apparently the Osiris team had a meeting to select shoes from existing prototype designs that had been made already, Dave Mayhew was late for the meeting and when he got there everyone had already chosen the shoes they wanted and he got “stuck” with the D3, probably the best booby prize ever, as he must have made so much money from these, they were the most expensive pro shoe around and they sold like hot cakes. I also heard he retired from pro skating because he made so much from the shoes and didn’t need to work for the rest of his life.
They made these in tons of colors, here in SD there is a place called thrift trade with like ten pairs brand new. I think osiris shoes all skate like the D3
Glad I never bought into the bulky shoe hype of the mid 90′s-early 2000′s. Half Cabs and Dunks have never failed me.
